Featured Personality: Sora
Tell us a bit about yourself, Sora, and what inspired you to create him? What are some of his talents and motivations?
Well, for starters I’m a video game nut, probably one of the worst sadly to say. Sora is the main character for the Playstation 2 bestseller, Kingdom Hearts that was created by Disney and Squaresoft. After playing the game I just had to create such a beautiful character. And he was one of my first that I made on Pan Historia.
I guess what inspired me the most to create Sora was his personality because I can relate to him the most. For one thing, he’s bendable and downright wonderful! His talents include being nice to anyone he comes across and would do anything in his power to help them, not to mention try to bring a smile to everyone’s faces.
I tend to think I can learn a thing or two from Sora, even though he is just a character from a game. But then again, I can learn a thing or two from anything or anyone I meet.
You write mainly in the Fantasy Genre, specifically in two novels, "Into the Woods" and "Beauxbatons Academy". What about the Fantasy Genre appeals to you? How does Sora fit into the two novels?
Ahh, Fantasy… that’s probably my favorite Genre! Mostly what I adore about fantasy is the magic that comes with it. Almost anything can happen… Not to mention, being a character of Disney, there has to be a bit of magic in my writing. And I try to do a little comedy while I write too. At Beauxbatons, Sora is a student who’s moved around the world like a gazillion times (please excuse my over exaggerations) and was invited to attend the Academy of Magic. And one thing leads to another and all of a sudden, he’s the school goofball that everyone seems to like. In Into the Woods, Sora’s just your ordinary spiky haired lunatic who just happens to meet the speedy, Sonic the Hedgehog. But sadly, I’m not very active in the novel. I’m only surprised that they decided to keep me around. I guess being Sora, I can be funny, serious, sincere and brave. And not being able to have adventures like he does in Kingdom Hearts, I can express and create them in my writing.
I also notice that you are a member of ACME Web Factory, and your home looks wonderful! What inspires you to create such beautiful graphics?
I joined ACME not that long ago “it does the designer good” *L* I’m inspired by almost everything, I read something out of a book and a picture of something pops up into my head and I just have to stop everything I’m doing and just go design it. Same thing happens online when I see a picture or a GIF, I think, “hey, I wanna try something like that” and I do it. So far it’s done a great deal for me :) But I would have to say the thing that inspires me the most would be music. It must be the wonderfully mixed music notes that just give me ideas. And it not only inspires me to make graphics, but also draw pictures. But knowing how to make graphics isn’t enough to make something nice and cool, it’s also the HTML… which I have yet to master… heh…
When did you join Pan Historia, and what was it about this community, and writing in general that appeals to you?
Ummm… Well, I can’t recall exactly when I joined. I have a sibling who was a member of Ancient Sites and the beginning of Pan Historia. I found out about Pan Historia through her when she invited me to join a certain novel. But that of course went down the drain because I was fairly new to the community.
Probably the most enjoyable aspect of this site that appeals to me would be the friends that I’ve made here. Even if we’re only online buddies, everyone I met seemed to find their way into my heart and I look forwards to log on just to have a little chat *S*
With the writing, what I look forwards to the most would be watching a storyline unfold. I often wonder what twists and turns will occur in the stories I’ve joined. It’s mainly the ideas that my writing partners have that really have an impact on my writing. Because I really don’t plan out what will happen in an upcoming plot, I like to just wing my ideas in my writing and see where it ends up. And so far, it’s been great!
We've all suffered from writer's block at some point. Are there any tricks you can share with us as to how you get out of one?
I run into a lot of bumps in the road. But when it comes to writer’s block, I usually just sit back and take a break… and listen to a CD or two, read a book, take a long walk, draw a picture… or… play some video games… I admit I’m guilty!
But most of the time it just comes back to me as to what I want to happen, either that or I talk to my writing partner and ask what they want to do or if they have any ideas (which are all awesomely awesome by the way) it’s not necessarily a trick, but it’s always worked for me.
If you could choose one character in history to portray, who would it be and why?
Now that’s a hard one! Any character in history… Probably… Lewis and Clark… or just one of them. Why? Because of the adventures they had and all the people they’ve met. I would truly be delighted to be written about in History books, but I’m sure we all would. There are so many people and possibilities to choose from it’s almost scary!
One last question…What are your greatest accomplishments, either here or in RL?
For both, it would have to be the things I’ve learned and the friends I’ve made. As for RL itself, I think my greatest accomplishments are all the hardships I’ve experienced, but we all grow with each new experience. And I seem to enjoy my curiosity the most for the things I can do, write, draw or make. There’s a truth that waits in the distance...Not something someone else said, but something your heart wants to know.
