Featured Character: Jolene Jackson

by Lady Isabella

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself...

A: This is very difficult. Where to start? I was born...NO, wait. You don't want to go back that far do you? Let's see, I moved to Texas from Florida, where I was born and lived for all my life, except for two years in Germany. My life has been rather ordinary. It would take too much space and too much time to tell you all the things I believe and espouse. Probably could be boiled down to this, treat your fellow earthbounds, human and animal with with as much love and respect as you can muster for who they are. Treasure their uniqeness. I now have the privilege of living in the Texas Hill Country in a town which boasts a post office and a whole bunch of spectacular people. What more could I want? You hear that, Guv?

Q: Why did you join PH?

A: Because the other interactive communities which I had enjoyed for so long folded and people there whom I liked and respected set up Pan and I came a-running. Joined as soon as they would have me. Been playing here ever since.

Q: What is your favorite part about being a member here at Pan Historia?

A: It's very difficult for me to pick favorites in ANYTHING!! Guess I am either very wishy-washy or I just like so many things about so many things. If I absolutely have to choose one thing it would have to be the people here. I love the diversity of personality, the ethnicity, and the fun-loving nature of nearly everyone here. Every day I find so many instances of professionalism in the community and in the way this site is administered. I appreciate that a lot. The kindness of the people here when my daughter died last year was overwhelming. The chance to grow as a writer and explore different parts of my own pesonality and character would have to be a tie or a close second.

Q: What are your greatest accomplishments, either in RL or here at Pan?

A: Nothing can top, for me, the way my children have turned out, even though I cannot possibly take full credit for that, I'm going to go on believing that I had some influence there.*S* And, as unexpected as it is, I have to include this being featured thing. Never in my wildest imagination did I ever hope to be chosen and I still can't comprehend why. I didn't even get a new dress (Jolene needs that badly), or a better avatar, and, in spite of advice from a very good friend, haven't had time yet to put a new background at my site. *LOL* I love that desert background, but unfortunately, the Pan fontcolor fades right into it. I am truly honored by this. I thank all of you. Aside from suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder in a big way, nearly everything here, for me, is positive. I'm pretty proud of recently being allowed to become a Viking, too. Are you reading this Eric and Marquis and Tank Girl and Liaus all you zanies there? Strad, and Melissa and Ruthie, you'd better be reading this, too. I owe you a bushel or two.

Q: Being a member of novels such as Tombstone or Wild as the West Texas Wind I know you have opinions on what a real Cowboy is. *G* Care to give us some traits and qualifications??

A: Firstly (is that a puffed up, self-important word or not?) LOL I love it!! Ahem. ok. Cowboy is not a person, a profession, nor a gender. It is a state of mind. I wish I could pin it down for you, but a cowboy is unique and yet as diverse as the society in which he lives.

The following clearly tells what a cowboy believes and therefore a great deal of what cowboy is and is not. Cowboy's Ten Commandments were posted on the wall at Cross Trails Church in Fairlie, Texas. It was too good not to pass along to you. Think if we all used these instead of the one with all the "shalt nots" in it, we could probably understand and live up to them a lot better!

1. Just one God.
2. Honor yer Ma & Pa.
3. No telling tales or gossipin'.
4. Git yourself to Sunday meetin'.
5. Put nothin' before God.
6. No foolin' around with another fellow's gal.
7. No killin'.
8. Watch yer mouth.
9. Don't take what ain't yers.
10. Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff

Guess cowboys just kinda tell it like it is!!!! A cowboy lives these rules, but he doesn't expect other people to. He generally lives his life, not because of what others do, but more often, in spite of it. I would trust a real cowboy to always take care of me should I need it, and to protect me. He ain't a quitter, the cowboy. I guess you've already discovered that I like cowboys. Now, being Jolene, I have to add this. Them tight jeans and that hat don't hurt him none at all. *giggle* There's a couple more that a really good cowboy, DJ, songwriter, friend of mine practices. Be respectful to ladies. If you see someone who needs a hug, why, give 'em one. Or two.

Q: I also noticed that you are a member of Muppets. Do you have a favorite Muppets character?

A: Well, right off the top of my head, I would have to say Piggy and Camilla, but that would be giving away my secret, right? Having said that, I have to say, they are all my favorites. As unique as cowboys, they are. That little red fella just steals my heart, though. Can I do a plug here for the Muppets? Y'all, everyone come on over and join us for some really zany fun. Piggy would tell you this: Life's a movie, write your own ending. And, If it's expensive enough, it fits.
