Featured Character - Hermione Granger

By Gabriel Baine

Q: Why did you join Pan Historia?

A: I joined PH after AS and the other sites collapsed. I wanted to find a new community with role play, discussions and friendship. I had heard about various new sites popping up and was pleased to find that PH offered all the things I was looking for and more.

Q: What can you say about your character, Hermione Granger?

A: Hermione Granger is based on the character of the same name in the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. She's intelligent, loyal, resourceful and even a bit stubborn! You have the interesting situation of playing a character that is an actual literary character.

Q: Do you attempt to write Hermione as J.K. Rowling would, or do you bring your own style into Hermione?

A: I do try to write Hermione as J.K. Rowling would, but I'm sure some of my own influence is styled in the character. It's difficult to write an actual literary character and do it exactly as the original author would, since there is no way of knowing the original author's every thought for a particular character.

Q: Do you have an author who you especially enjoy and/or receive motivation from?

A: Some of my favorite authors include J.K. Rowling, Lindsey Davis and Sharon Kay Penman. None (except for Rowling when I write for Hermione) truly influence or motivate my own writing, but I do enjoy reading their work immensely!

Q: What are your greatest accomplishments, either in real life or Pan Historia?

A: As far as great accomplishments in real life go, I'm very proud of my undergraduate degree in archaeological studies. I am still relatively young, though, so I don't have too many other real life experiences yet that I would call my greatest achievement. However, here at PH I've had a hand in creating and running Hogwarts, a very busy and addicting novel. I'm pleased in its success and hope that it will continue to thrive.
