Mouse Adams

How'd you find Pan Historia, and what made you stay?

I was sent an e-mail with the address of Pan Historia, While I was at The Sci-fi Vines, from a good friend who had heard of the start-up of Pan Historia. The companionship and the writing by the members are what kept me here.

Would you be willing to tell us a few things about your offline self?

Maybe just a few! I have an avid interest in books, all kinds of books. I love to read them, go through old book stores and smell and touch them. I own enough that I have run out of book cases many times over. My likes in music and movies is just as eclectic, but not as numerous as I spend most time either at Pan or reading books. I like cooking food from scratch as well as modifying existing recipes.

You are a board member of Alas, the Folly of Man. You also have added a lot of creative input to this novel. Could you tell us something about this novel, and what drove you to create it?

Alas was the actual brain child of Robert of Kashmir. I had recruited him to write in another novel, Fallout Shelter - a post apocalyptic survival story, which was started by Jagged Metzger and Jade Corbeau. We played in that novel until the crash last year. Robert of Kashmir decided on starting another similar novel post apocalypse after much discussion at Pan's Den and Pan Historia Junction when we find out that Fallout Shelter would not be resurrected.

Since I wrote with him before he asked if I would be co-MoBster so he could submit the idea to get the novel started. Currently we have three main threads- St. Alphonso's, Texas, and Scotland but they do not interact as each is a stand alone story. But a few Ideas have been bantered around that Scotland and Texas may have "satellite communications". but so far it is an Idea. I am in charge of the advertisements, decorations, recruiting at times and such. I field a lot of the members questions.

Mouse Adams. Is there a story behind this name? Do you have an affinity to mice?

*G* I confess "Mouse" was named for the little white mice in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.

Although I have had rodents as pets, most of the mice I have know were either some snake's dinner or caught in traps. So no I have not deep and abiding attachment to any one particular mouse, other than myself (Mouse Adams) *S*

You enjoy science fiction, as determined by the Reference Book you've joined, in addition to your novel. What types of science fiction most stimulate your curiosity?

I am good friends with Mr. Atoz, as I have read and or own books from people like Andre Norton to Roger Zelazny. One of my favorite authors is H. Beam Piper. And I love his Fuzzy's. I roam all about the Science fiction genre in terms of reading. Some are contemporary like Anne McCaffrey, Jody Lynn Nye and Elizabeth Moon. But I have also read Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Heinlein, and Aldous Huxley. I could go on but you get the idea!

I think Hard Science Fiction stimulates me the most as it is based on a lot of factual science and it has the possibility of if and history has proven some science fiction to become science fact.

What else do you enjoy at Pan Historia?

I have fun helping out with some of the social events like the contests and occasionally have been seen in the chat rooms...

Do you think we as sentient beings will head to a future where we will learn from our mistakes, or will we just muddle along?

That frankly scares me... I am hopeful that "man" as a whole will eventually grow beyond our need to kill each other and not care who's religion is best. But I can also see a scary side of our technology that may decimate the world, as what was in one of Frank Herbert's lesser known books The White Plague. With many fanatical groups getting closer and closer to being able to manipulate the human genome I fear we may destroy all humans and possibly the world.

Since this is the Animals Edition, tell us something about pets/animals you have, or might like to have if you could, no holds barred.

Currently, I am a cat parent to 4 finders. Either I find them or they find me. I basically rescued them from becoming feral. I spoil them a bit but hey they deserve it. *G*

Having been raised in a rural area I was allowed may types of animal companions... So unless it is suited for being kept by a human I would not want to remove any new animal from it's environment just so I could have it as a pet. That being said I would love a Snow Leopard. (Just look at my PH Companion)
