Book of Ages

"In the beginning…" So begins the most read book in history. Many have seen the Bibles that the Gideons place in hotel rooms, got dragged to church on Sunday mornings, took first communion and eventually have made up their own minds on what religion, if any, they believe in. But how many have actually sat down and read what is contained within the Bible's pages? Book of Ages is a quiet, unassuming little reference book that accepts all beliefs and views regardless of creeds and affiliations. It is a place to discuss a Book that has come down to us through the ages, through many different versions and revisions, and to see how--and if--it is still applicable to our lives.
At BoA, we have a variety of discussion threads that one can post in. There
are general topics like the Old and New Testaments and some very specific
ones such as our thread discuss your favourite songs and the music that inspires
you in our Christian Music thread. Our Biblical Discussion thread is open
to any and all topics that just don't seem to fit into the other threads.
One of our current discussions in this thread is whether or not, as a Christian,
it is blasphemous to have a decorated Christmas tree in your home. According
to some, in Jeremiah 10:2-4 God expressly forbids the cutting of "a
tree out of the forest" and adorning it with silver and gold and therefore,
for a Christian to partake of this Christmas tradition they are, in a sense,
becoming idolaters.
Another discussion thread that had a lot of response (well before the crash
anyway) was the Christian Fiction section and how those works have or have
not remained true to the Bible. The dominant topic in there has been the Left
Behind series. This thought provoking and New York Times best selling
series gives the authors' perception of how the Book of Revelation will come
to pass.
So whether you believe that God is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end or the Jesus was or wasn't the son of God, that the Messiah has come or has yet to come or you have no religious beliefs whatsoever and would like a forum to express your views, Book of Ages is it. And while we are open to any and all discussion, we do not condone religious bashing in any way, shape or form.
