Dear Karmetra, Love is all well and good, my boy, but in the end, if you're enamoured of a princess, you will likely have your heart broken. Surely you know that fathers of princesses arrange their daughters' marriages to enhance their own power? Unfortunately, daughters are property, just something else to get more property with.
But then maybe you've got yourself a special princess, one who would defy her father and not mind living on a scribe's pay. Of course, if you run off with the Pharoah's daughter, you won't be getting any scribe's pay, will you, no matter how much he depends on you now, and a scribe who has been fired by the Pharoah won't be very employable. Perhaps you can envision it - you and your lady love, grubbing out a meager living, farming at a distant oasis, a child every year or two, never enough to eat, your flimsy house leaning with the desert winds. You get the picture.
Give her a kiss or two, if you think you won't get caught out, and set your sights on a nice girl who won't come with such a load of baggage. You'll be able to support your family that way. You'll always have your memories you know.
dear miss jones, i see you live on a farm. do you have any extra kitties you can spare? i have this problem with mine, 54 so far, they keep falling asleep and i can't wake them, so i thought maybe yours would like to stay at my big house with me and Raggamuffin. you can find out why my kitties keep sleeping? Dear Lenore, Yes, I've usually got a crop of kittens down in the barn since I've never had enough money to get all those mother cats fixed, but I'm hesitant to give any of those cute little kittens to you, no matter how overrun I am with them. If you've had 54 cats go to sleep and never wake up in your house, I suggest that you get one of those environmental tester guys to come in and see what's wrong with your house.
On the other hand, have you got any money? Perhaps you ought to invest in a pet cemetery.
