Featured Character: Aragorn

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself ... Why did you join
PH and what is your favorite part about being a member
here at Pan Historia?
A: I am one of at least several
hundred, unless there are more of us, who began in the groups
of the now defunct AncientSites.
Thusly my initial interest was in history, more especially
ancient history, Hellenic/Hellenistic/Roman/Medieval primarily.
But I am not limited to just history, but grew up on fantasy/sci
fi, the myths and legends, Greek/Roman, Norse/Teutonic, Celtic,
Arthurian & Charlemagne. Which lead me to Dungeons and
Dragons, and from them, learned of the existance of JRR Tolkien
and his books, which I finally managed to read when Ballantine's
1980s editions hit the bookstore we finally had.
My history
characters have had a few snags, as people stopped posting
before the novels got started [I say several of you, at the
least, have been a member of such a novel].
My biggest breakthrough
here at Pan was after returning from a viewing of "The
Fellowship of the Ring" [the local theatres had passed
it along, I wanted one more viewing, at it was my birthday-used
my birthday "loot" to pay for the trip, lol], when
it hit me-I had not even tried being my favorite character
from the movies and the books, Aragorn. The fact I have this
name for the interview tells of my success. After a couple
of months, I got "hired" to play Aragorn in the novel "The
One Ring", and here I am, a year later, a featured character
[Fantasy Genre] and now this interview.
Q: I noticed you are a member of the novel The One Ring.
Who is your favorite Tolkien charcter? Book? Would you tell
us more about your character at The One Ring, and your story
there?
A: I have to say that
my favorite character is Aragorn and the JRRT book is "Lord
of the Rings". For those who
are not familiar, Aragorn is the last heir of the High King
Elendil,
and thusly by blood and law, heir to the thrones of the kingdoms
of Arnor and Gondor. For most of his long life [his family
has elven blood and has existed for several thousands of years],
he has trained for the day when the future of Middle Earth
will come to a head, either to rid the land of the Dark Lord
Sauron, or to succumb to his rule. One or the other, this will
happen. Over his head is the knowlege that only with the help
of the last heir can Sauron be defeated. He could simply settle
down and live as his heart wished, but to do so would mean
the end of Middle Earth for the good people who live in it.
He has decided he must do his part, and has put aside his name,
his life ambitions, honing himself to be prepared for the "Days
of Doom".
Currently within the story, he is known to most
to be but a Ranger of the North, a sometimes aide to the
wizard, Gandalf the Grey, with connections to the elf lords
of Middle
Earth, mostly a walking mystery. I think this will cover
your question *s*
Q: Now for the last question, I know that most women are
dying to know...boxers or briefs?
A: LOL I started not to answer
this, but okay, briefs *S* And am single in RL. For those really
interested, lets say that Viggo Mortenson, who plays my character
in the movies, is six months older than I am.
