Tragedy
by Amashelle
Tragedy surrounds us; it captivates our minds,
Our imaginations, our dreams, nightmares,
Most drama cannot do so in kind
It is weak and full of unneeded time.
Tragedy is the hopelessness of loss, the despair of pain.
It can either build us into a stronger person,
Or break us into pieces, left out in the rain.
The choice is ours. Will we grow or stay the same?
Tragedy is the bonds that hold us together
It is the hurt and the devastation.
For when we feel that the world's first endeavour
Is to lock you away, in darkness forever.
An intensely sad and calamitous event, required
Just a simple dream dashed to pieces,
Or a nightmare, undesired,
Using a will that is uninspired.
A form of drama, protagonist's disaster falls,
Repression of his world, social forces,
A flaw in his nature, psychiatrist calls.
A broken heart, the face of a china doll.
Drama, encompassing the body
As it struggles to be released.
Human life, trapped in the folly
That surrounds the word of tragedy.
Don't trust yourself to tragedy,
Don't trust yourself to love
For in the end, calamity
Will surely dash your serenity.
