Global Causes & Going Green

Behind the scenes at the PanHistorian, the staff debated the theme of this April 1st edition of our online paper. Some said turn it over to the Amok-ers in honor of April Fools’ Day, but others pointed out that April was the month when we celebrate Earth Day. So with some attention to the Amok’ers, we decided to dedicate this edition of the Pan Historian to celebrating and preserving our planet.

It is appropriate that people at Pan celebrate the Earth Day every day. Like the first Earth Day celebration in 1970 we are also a grass roots organization. Like that environmental movement, we have come a long way, but know we have a long way to go. We are also a world wide organization—as members of Pan we know that we are all neighbors, even if we live miles or continents apart.

So whether you are in the northern hemisphere awaiting signs of spring or in the southern hemisphere watching the last days of summer fade away, April and May are months that bring changes to your world. We hope that this edition of the Pan Historian will give you some chuckles and some thoughts to ponder. You might notice there are a few returning features to our pages and we are introducing you to some characters and novels you might not know yet. We have even taken the opportunity to pay homage to April Fools’ Day in a couple of places.

Enjoy the April Edition of the PanHistorian!
