Mammisi was actually an artificial coptic term to describe a certain kind of temple structure used in the Ptolemaic period. It was where a celebration of the marriage of the goddess (Aset or Het-Hert (Hathor) and the birth of the child-god. Apparently rituals were enacted, 'mystery plays', that contained thirteen acts and two intervals concerning birth of Ihy or the Pharaoh.
