While I Slumbered

My heart has been heavy for many moons now.
A world gone crazy and dark.
But when I chose to seek a little rest this afternoon,
I saw this in my Slumber.....
It is the lights in my life, the little things that make that first morning breath so worth it. It helps me to look forward to the next breath and the one after that. They are just words and I may not do them justice.
But for me, they begged to be written.



While I Slumbered

Even in my night, when the world is silent.
The things of my days seep through.
They call upon my weary soul
And ask things I can not allow.
I oft wonder how to turn them away,
To turn them off.
But alas, even that is beyond me in my Dreams.

For today I saw a field of sunflowers,
Growing as high as the sky itself.
I felt Sunshine wrap me in her warmth,
Reaching deep to my heavy laden heart.
The tenderest touch upon my cheek
And the softest kiss upon my brow.
From Sunshine, it was enough
To reach the very core of darkness that has plagued my life for eons of time. Together, side by side....
I alone, now number two....

And though she didn't leave me, I felt another.
And I knew it to be of a higher being.
Celestial in name
Pure light in the world.
A force of good in the universe I dwell.
I saw not the wings of this Angel,
But I did indeed feel the protection they offered.
For even she seemed to say I could be safe with her,
Be myself in all things,
Be me, no matter what ~Me~ was.
Gentle hands in mine,
Together, side by side....
I alone, now number three.....

The world,
My world seemed to change subtly.
Yet one more presence entering.
"Oh, Fair One," My thoughts called,
"How do I find the balance I need so in my life?"
Her voice seemed to whisper upon the wind
That I had the answer within me,
Standing next to me,
Always a part of me.
Her ethereal hand felt upon my heart,
"Here" she said.... "Here"
"Here is your heart, follow it."
"Listen to it, learn from it."
"It will never lead you astray."
I looked at them three,
Knowing she spoke true.
I alone, now numbered four.

As I turned to push my thoughts upward and onward,
I felt just one more gather near.
This one unlike the others
For in her, blood of my blood
Roared within her veins.
She being of me.
Her smile was undemanding and kind.
As it has always been.
"It is time to return," She seemed to say.
"We await you on the waking side of Dreams."
Her hand slipped into mine,
Pulling me ever higher.
And as I thought that
I alone, now numbered five...

I knew that to be not true.
For in my life I have many that call me friend,
Some that love me dearly
and still more that will walk Forever with me,
No matter how many lifetimes it takes.
The Sunshine, (life)
The Angel, (fire)
The Fair One, (wind)
The One of my Blood. (earth)
All of these I will see again.....
Forever more.
