Forbidden

'Er his eyes of wondrous grace
Shine flecks of gold in haunting haste
Do'th capture my heart with sin embrace
And turns my mind within

'What if?' I ponder the bitter woe
The tempest tossed within my soul
Screams the dreams that make me whole
I dare not to begin

And yet I seek those shattered days
When up is down and life's sideways
For one more moment, perchance to gaze
I crave this mortal sin

'Ner to taste the firm expanse?
Nor to feel one ardent glance?
Pierce me through with your lance!
And call to me again

Tears they fall like blessed night
Stars they dance till morning light
And still I'm wrapped within this plight
Come and let me in

For as my days pass one by one
Life do'th move from night till sun
Pass me by, left undone
No home within this skin

How far must I fly to see with eyes
Rainbows that sway across the skies
To clutch to my chest the winners prize
Before I die within
