When A Dreamer Forgets How TO Dream
Last night while I slept,
In a slumber so deep
I dreamt an awful dream,
A heavy burden to keep
I saw a lone Dreamer,
A beauty so Fair
But she had tears in her eyes,
A great pain weighted there
“I’ve forgotten,” she whispered.
“How could this be so?
Without the dreams that I weave,
No person can grow.”
“The sun can not peek,
Through the clouds high above
If I can not give them,
Even a moment of love”
I stepped from the shadows,
Feeling her pain
Asking her softly,
To please try a-gain
“Remember how Summer,
Bleeds into Fall?
Or how happy we are,
When friends come to call?”
“You mustn’t give up!“
I pleaded once more
“Because without the dreams you weave,
Our lives are so poor.”
“We can’t dance in the moonlight,
Or laugh in the rain
We can’t fly with the pixies,
Or dance unrestrained”
“We can’t live our heart’s desires,
Or even dare to hope
If you are not there,
To help us cope”
“To leave us unfettered,
With no focus, no light
Leaves only the darkness,
To guide us through the night.”
“Please,” I begged,
“Weave for us once more!”
But the Dreamer smiled sadly,
And faded into lore
I stood there alone,
Shaking with fear
Mankind was now doomed,
With nothing to hold dear
Nothing is possible,
Like it all once seemed
That is what happens,
When a dreamer forgets how to dream
