Wanderlust

If you like to travel then Wanderlust is the reference book for you! Traveling allows us to see and experience things we would never be able to experience otherwise. Once the trip is over, it is fun to relive it by telling others about it. That is what Wanderlust is all about. It is also a place to share tips and research about upcoming trips.

There are many places to post. Each region of the world has its own thread. Some people have been to some amazing places! There are articles on where to eat in the Blue Mountains of Australia, where to shop and what to see in Mexico City (the Cathedral, the Templo Mayor Museum, Presidential Palace, etc.), and the beaches and buildings of Havana, Cuba. Paris highlights include the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Versailles, and cold duck (it takes like salami) while Corsica has lovely beaches and a mix of French and Italian food. A trip to Nottingham, England to see a football (soccer in American terms) match leads to a lovely report on Nottingham Castle and Southbank Pub as well as some sights to see in London. Highlights of Ireland include seeing the Book of Kells at Trinity College, Dublin and a trip to Inish Boffin off the west coast of Ireland. Copenhagen in Denmark receives rave reviews for the Rosenborg Slot (a palace), Rundertarn (Round Tower) for its panoramic view, Fridehedmuseet- The Danish Resistance Museum, and Nyahvn 57 restaurant. There are pictures of the rivers and streets of Dhaka (Bangladesh) and ticket information for the Taj Mahal. There is also a report on the travails of having a personal driver in Bangkok, Thailand. In the Extreme Vacations thread some people have been to Maghrib and the northern Sahara. We need more people to write about Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East, and South America.

There are also Travel Tips and Websites in Wanderlust. VirtualTourist has a very large database with information on sights, hotels, restaurants, etc. Right now the top cities to visit, according to VirtualTourist, are Paris, London, New York City, Rome, Prague, Bangkok, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Venice, San Francisco, Vienna, and Budapest. Wunderground has international weather information.

For someone who likes to read only about the best, there is a Best of the Best Lists. This is a place to talk about lists, like the Seven Wonders of the World, and what we have seen and should be included but isn't. And what would Wanderlust be without a place to post your travel pictures? A picture is truly worth a thousand words.

Dictionary.com says that wanderlust is "a strong, innate desire to rove or travel about".
