Novel Awards:

Come and peer through the inky half-light at the shattered remnants of civilisation. Once the golden light at the heart of human advancement, London now lurks beneath dense unbroken ash clouds, seemingly alone in a world all but destroyed by a supervolcano eruption in North America 20 years ago.

On this once green and pleasant land, two semi-cultures scratch an existence. The Walkers, small tribes of feral humans with a pitifully short life expectancy, eke out a cannibalistic life amid the broken buildings of outer London, dodging the aggressive Bunkermen and lethal Brights, gaps in the cloud that expose their frail bodies to deadly doses of infrared radiation.

Huddled in the old Underground network and abandoned sewers in the centre of the UK’s former capital are the Bunkermen, a technically advanced but morally divided race nicknamed the Molemen by the Walkers, who are themselves called Rotjobs by their enemies.

A lethal half war exists, within which Walkers consider Bunkermen as foodstuffs and Bunkermen consider Walkers as pests to be destroyed.

Join these two savage peoples, above and below ground, in their struggle with the environment and each other, existing under a bitter sky.

Writers will be expected to contribute plots and details to help flesh out the societies here.
