This is Venice, the flattering and suspect beauty- this city, half fairy tale and half trap, in whose insalubrious air the arts once rankly and voluptuously blossomed, where composers have been inspired to lulling tones of somniferous eroticism.

While gondoliers ply the waters of the Grand Canal and lovers tryst on the Rialto Bridge, painters and sculptors create breathtaking works of art to adorn the lagoon's myriad cathedrals and churches. It is 1508 and the height of the Renaissance- the flowering of art, culture, and religion. But not all is as it seems for beneath the gilded surface lurk the Seven Deadly Sins of lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, pride, and envy.
