Nar Shaddaa is the Huttese name for the over-urbanized planetoid known commonly as the Smugglers Moon. The spaceport moon orbits the Hutt stronghold world of Nal Hutta, in the YToub system.

Over the centuries, Nar Shaddaa has grown as an important way station in interstellar trade. Ancient refueling spires and loading docks reach out into orbit, and in between, vast vertical cities have filled the spaces.
The lower levels have fallen into disrepair and decay, and the lowliest of dregs forced into the decrepit under city to eke out an existence. The descendants of the Evocii first displaced by the Hutts to the moon have degenerated in the shadowed filth of Nar Shaddaas foundations, mutating into unwholesome savages.

No one goes there and if they do, they never come back.

For a time, Nar Shaddaa enjoyed an air of luxury, but changing political climes have turned it into a criminal haven.
The moon is now firmly affixed in the galaxy's criminal underbelly, and no amount of reform is likely to ever bring it into the light again.

Ship-jackers, mercenaries, slavers, spice dealers, bounty hunters, pirates and other unsavory types congregate in the vile cities, plying their trade in the many bars. For a price, anything can be bought and sold on Nar Shaddaa, and many young smugglers and pirate wannabes get their start on Smugglers Moon.

If you want to hide.......then this is the place to do it.

Set in the Star Wars universe, our novel includes Imperial troops, Rebels, Jedi and all manner of other species and intrigue, what is important though is that whilst we dip into the contents of the films, we're not governed by them. You are therefore free to develop your own characters and situations irrespective of whether they are seen to “fit” into a specific Star Wars related scenario (although we don’t wish to see you including other Sci-Fi franchise characters or vehicles for example that clearly do not belong here).

This allows you to take aspects of the films and develop them in your own way. It may be something as simple as the spice and slaver trade on Ylesia or the development of a Huttese clan and their infighting with rival clans – make of it what you will.

We're happy to except writers who want to develop a good mercenary or smuggler storyline, who fancy being a bounty hunter or maybe just the owner of a bar on Nar Shaddaa, the opportunities are endless - so be creative and stretch your imagination.

Because storylines do not necessarily run concurrently and are controlled by individuals you may set your story in any Star Wars period but please be sure to research your chosen period carefully for canon characters, battles and other occurrences to ensure you adhere to established Star Wars history. Of course, if you prefer, you do not need to feature any of these to write your story and you do not need to set your thread on Nar Shaddaa, only use the location at some point.

New writers may post on the Around the Galaxy or A Certain Point of View threads or request a new thread of their own.

Because our novel deals with the seedier aspect of society this novel is rated NC-17. Story lines may contain sexual references, violence and scenes which are unsuitable for anyone under the age of 17. We therefore will not admit anyone we suspect to be under this age limit and this is the reason for our being a Closed Novel.
