Within a year following the collapse of Sunnydale and the Hellmouth, those who had survived the battle against the First Evil united to create a would-be watcher's council to train and monitor every potential slayer who had become a full-fledged slayer. Headquartered in a remote, ruined castle in Scotland, this council has since expanded to include other bases throughout the world.

Approximately 1800 slayers are presently accounted for and roughly 500 are in league with the council. More are joining the cause everyday.

Naturally, the council is not without its enemies. Excepting the usual suspects––vampires, demons and others with evil dealings––the United States Department of Defense has also taken an interest into what has been deemed vigilantism. Decimating an entire American town doesn't exactly make one a hero, even if one did save the world by doing it.

Chosen is based entirely on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series; the groundwork laid in "The Long Way Home, Part I" serves as a loose foundation for the novel. The novel takes place in the present day.
