In the Scotia Novel:

The Minstrel Boy to the war is gone
In the ranks of death you will find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;
"Land of Song!" said the warrior bard;
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"

by Thomas Moore

Arriving in Dunadd after weeks spent helping his friend escape slavery in a Cruithne stronghold, Dafydd finds himself attracted to Rhiannon, princess of Catraeth. Though a mere fugitive amongst the Mac an Rothaich, Rhiannon caught the eye of their Righ, Fionnlagh. As he spends time with her, telling her tales and providing her with news of the outside world, Dafydd must decide whether or not to express his devotion.

The bard can share his disappointment with only one person in Dunadd... Eafa. To others she is nothing more than a slave and a whore but to the bard she is a friend who soothes his feelings of loneliness. At first his attempts to relieve her own sufferings met nothing but cold cynicism but with time she may come to accept them for what they truly are... genuine concern.

Stormcloud... the magnificent stallion the bard found in the scorching sands of the east. Dafydd is doubly blest... such a fine beast and a previous owner who'll never know where to look. Or so the bard hopes!
