|Marzipan Ravenscroft was born in England on July 24, 1974 but grew up in Australia. She is the only daughter of Percival FitzRoy, formerly professor of Ancient Runes at Sydney's School of Wizardry. Marzipan grew up without her mother, Georgia, who had walked out on husband and daughter the day after Marzi's birth.
After graduation from Sydney's School of Wizardry, where Marzipan excelled in Herbology, she took an apprenticeship in Belize. After three years of practical study Marzipan moved to the Congo, where she worked as a Herbologist and eventually accepted a position as assistant instructor of Herbology to African children of wizarding birth. Marzipan lost her job at the Okapi École de Sorcellarie when the school faced downsizing and soon found a position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was the Herbology professor for two years, after which she was sent to 14-15-14, a community for wizards without pureblood ancestry. She fled to freedom in Austin, Texas after other members of the community led an uprising against the warden and guards.
Marzipan married Weston Ravenscroft on June 27, 2003 in a double wedding with their half-sister Carolina Ravenscroft and Caleb Black. Marzipan and Carolina share a mother; Weston and Carolina share a father. For a time, Marzipan feared she and Weston shared a parent, but this was eventually proved untrue.
Weston worked for the Department of Magical Education at the Ministry of Magic. He was killed when Death Eaters raided the Ministry of Magic on August 31, 2009. Marzipan teaches Herbology at Hogwarts. She has custody of Carter Black, the son of Carolina and Caleb, and has her own son with Weston, Vallon.
Marzi taught lower years Herbology from 2003-2010. She currently teaches upper years Herbology. She met Beauxbatons professor Alaric Framboise during the Scholastic Aptitude Tournament. They have been dating since the summer of 2011.
