In the darkness of Los Angeles underground, a story of betrayal, struggle and love unfolds among the city’s most unlikely characters.
Marius: Born “Frederick Heaton” in London in 1733 to a wealthy Merchant family, studied Medicine in Oxford but did not complete his education. He left school and worked for his father in 1756 in trade and shipping. He was embraced by Ventrue elder Cedric of Newbury in 1765. He was put into Torpor in 1788 in New York as a result of a Ventrue power struggle involving A Newbury faction and A London faction. Marius was awaken in 2005 by the Ventrue primogen five years after the death of the last member of the opposing faction.
Elana: Was born “Elena Whitford” in London in 1756 to a prominent family related to the British monarchy. Despite being in semi poverty, Elana maintained close ties to the British crown. Was embraced by Marius in 1782. Was elevated by the Camarilla in 1788. She is thought to have caused King George III’s insanity and dementia late in his life and before his death. Though no stranger to the new world, she moved to America to live permanently in 1845. She later moved to Los Angeles from New York in 1935 where she was made an adjutant to the City Ventrue Primogen. She became primogen herself in 1954.
Lasombra Captain. Her birthplace was somewhere in the eastern Mediterranean in the early nineteenth century. Though her allegiances are opposite those of Marius, the circumstances of their meeting have tied their fates together.
Brujah Body guard, currently assigned to protect Marius. Born Diva Garza in 1972 In Las Cruces New Mexico to a single mother. Embraced by Elder Peter in a border hotel in 1994 after being critically wounded in a battle among Brujah and Sabbat. Joined the LA Camarilla a year later to train under the watchful eye of the Ventrue Primogen. Though she is still a fledgling, she has proved herself as a tough, independent and daring warrior.
Mortimer: Born “Clause Heilbronner” to a bakery owner in Berlin in 1918, joined Hitler’s Schutzstaffel (SS) in 1936 after being inspired by a patriotic speech. Was trained in the SS-Übungslager for 3 years before participating as a Lieutenant in WWII. He was captured in 1943 by US troops and became a German POW. He was released in 1946 and chose to live in New York where he was embraced by Gamion, nosferatu Elder in 1948 in the lower east side of Manhattan. Lacking ambition and drive, and governed by fear and impure blood the vampire remained a fledgling for nearly 50 years surviving on New York rats and the occasional homeless that wondered into his alley. His status changed when he decided to join the LA Camarilla in 2004.
“In a life overwhelmed with darkness and in a world filled with shadows the only shining light is absolute power.”
AssyrianVentrue Primogen and High priest of the Temple of Shamesh in Ninava, 4th century BC.
Elegant, aristocratic and regal, the Ventrue are the lords of the Camarilla. It was Clan Ventrue that provided the cornerstone of the Camarilla, and it is Clan Ventrue that directs and coaxes the Camarilla in its darkest hours. Even in the modern age, the majority of princes descend from Clan Ventrue. The Ventrue would, of course, have things no other way. In the tradition of noblesse oblige, the Ventrue must lead the other clans for their own good. In ancient nights, Ventrue were chosen from nobles, merchant princes or other wielders of power. In modern times the clan recruits from wealthy "old-money" families, ruthless corporate climbers, and politicians. Although Ventrue move in the same social circles as the Toreador, they do not fritter away their existences in frivolity and idle chatter. The Ventrue proudly wear the privileges of leadership, and stoically bear its burdens. Thus has it always been; thus shall it always be.
