Nothin' Spells Lovin' Like Somethin' from the Coven
Welcome to the Coven. I'm Samantha Hain, such a popular lass despite my pumpkin face, that an entire Celtic season has been named for me: Samhain. That's Sam as in Samwise the hobbit, Hain as in the underwear, Hanes. (Others may have a different take on the seasonal pronunciation, however.)
Samhain is the final Celtic harvest, the time of year when the veils between the worlds are the thinnest, and is one of the occasions when they honor their ancestors. Halloween (All Hallow's Eve) came about in an attempt to Christianize practices in Celtic regions, by adapting a few of these.
Please settle in and pay no heed to the apparitions coming through at this time of year. We have some pumpkin liquour -- or some turnip beer for the purists! I'm rather wicked, like the ale. You can think of me as a Bad Witch - mainly because I don't get many of my spells to come out right.
