“Write something to suit everybody an' scarcely anyone will care for it;
Write something to suit yourself and many people will like it.”

Anacrónico is Spanish for Anachronistic.

And what is that? Tis something or someone that is not in its correct historical or chronological time, especially a thing or person that belongs to an earlier time.

In Real Life (RL), maybe I am anachronistic, hence the reasoning behind my pseudonym being such as it is...

To me, Role-playing is a hobby in which I assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. I take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through creative writing, writing with a partner, or through a process for character development.

When I say writing a story with someone, I mean actually writing the story with them.

❖ -- You do one post, I do one post.
❖ -- This is your character, this is mine.
❖ -- Together, we are creating our story.

This is the basis of what I feel “roleplaying” is...or, at least, the type of role-playing that I have participated in online. It’s all about collaboratively writing stories by doing a paragraph or two — or five... however much is deemed necessary to keep the prompt alive between you and your partner. A turn-based method of writing, and one of the rarer and lesser-known ones. Together, you work on the idea, the characters, the setting, and the plot. You may even come up with more as you continue through your process of writing together.

Anachronism is a chronological inconsistency in some arrangement, especially a juxtaposition of person(s), events, objects, or customs from different periods of time. Often the item misplaced in time is an object, but it may be a verbal expression, a technology, a philosophical idea, a musical style, a material, a custom, or anything else associated with a particular period in time so that it is incorrect to place it outside its proper temporal domain.

So why use Anachronism? For some, it can be used for purposes of rhetoric, comedy, or shock. Unintentional anachronisms may occur when a writer, artist, or performer is unaware of differences in technology, language, customs, attitudes, or fashions between different historical eras... OR, it may be intentional, as he formulates his story to include such differences.

While research and historical accuracy is often valued in roleplay; sometimes realism is overrated. Real life is more straightforward, much less theatrical, and which, more likely than not, can be a big bore. Much moreso than stories we conjure from research or what our imagination spills forth.

To me, the best story is not the one that most closely duplicates life, but the ones with plots or ideas that are often wildly improbable. Historical accuracy and probability are important in some aspects, but the writer’s privilege of what's interesting over what is accurate is riddled of anachronisms. The historical errors are part of the overblown, adventurous style that is appealing. And because of the story genre where Anachronism is the norm, some people accept it as natural.

Or maybe more still, that I am anachronistic...

So be tempted... look me up, and lets write stories !!!!
