In the 1161st Year of the Trees, we of the Falmari boarded our Swan ships and sailed west to the place we would name Alqualondë on the eastern shore of Aman. There were many that called it the Haven of the Swans because of the beauty of our ships. It was a natural harbor made of rock where the Tower of Olwë was built. Olwë was both Lord of Alqualondë and King of the Telari.
We decorated the Haven with pearls which the we found in the seas, and jewels we traded for pearls from the Ñoldor. It was always alive with song from the fair voices of the Teleri, and after Valinor became silent with the death of the Two Trees, the only good sounds that could still be heard were coming from this fair coastal haven.
Until the Kinslaying, our city was one of the most peaceful and tranquil places in all of Aman- truly synonymous with elven bliss.
