i LOVE Pointillism & Stippling !

Much of my art is comprised of either pointillism and/or stippling.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of colour are applied in patterns to form an image.

Georges Seurat and Paul Signac developed the technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism. The term "Pointillism" was coined by art critics in the late 1880s to ridicule the works of these artists, and is now used without its earlier mocking connotation. The movement Seurat began with this technique is known as Neo-impressionism.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Stippling is the creation of a pattern simulating varying degrees of solidity or shading by using small dots. Such a pattern may occur in nature and these effects are frequently emulated by artists.

In a drawing or painting, the dots are made of pigment of a single colour, applied with a pen or brush; the denser the dots, the darker the apparent shade—or lighter, if the pigment is lighter than the surface.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

So, Stippling is one of the six basic drawing techniques in which a pattern of dots of one solid color of ink, such as black, is used to create an image. ... On the contrary, pointillism is an art technique that consists of several primary coloured dots overlapping or set close to each other.
