Irina and her brother Bolnăvicios grew up under the watchful eyes of nannies, private teachers, and servants in Țarăfals with its capital of Orașrege on the Râu Hohotitor. Her parents were kind but aloof. Her brother was sickly, but a nice enough boy a few years younger than herself. She went to school in Paris where she was kidnapped by the Czar of Russia, taken back to Saint Petersburg. She treated well and continues her studies there, but they plan to marry her off to one of their Grand Dukes to keep their hold over Țarăfals as she would most likely be the only surviving heir to the throne. She hates them for it. She has a Russian Blue cat, given to her by one suitor, named Pisică.
