In the Alien Hive Novel
 A scientist rescued from DF5 by the crew of the Bourgainville, Ashlea was viewed with suspicion at first, but has now been accepted as one of the team.
Seemingly scared of everything, Ashlea has been all but written off by the crew as being "useless" in the event of any skirmish and she has instead focussed on helping Bobby Jeffers in the Med Lab.
Corporal Harley Stone has become a close friend, having taught her some basic self-defence skills as well as how to use a gun and their relationship has turned intimate. Private Malachi Slade has also become a friend, albeit not on the same level as Stone.
 In the Outlanders Novel
Ashlea is a part-time mature student and works at the campus coffee shop.
Single and broke, Ashlea always tends to look on the bright side and has a smile for everyone.
