In the Smugglers Moon Novel
Ranik is a hardened mercenary who works for the highest bidder. At the moment he's involved with Loola Fayne, the owner of a bar on Nar Hekka. He has little love for the Empire and is only to happy to help her cousin, smuggler Jezzick Raan, gain entry to an Imperial residence.
Like Jezzick, Ranik too has had experiences in the mines and only gained his freedom by staging a coup, killing the security guards and stealing a freighter. Since then he's gone through a number of identity changes and is still wanted for the murders.
Good in a fight, Ranik can be trusted to do the job he's paid for and do it well. A trait that has always served him well.
