Alice Larsen is the daughter of Christian missionaries who were murdered in Algeria when Alice was twelve. She and her six-year old sister were taken prisoner. The child was carried off and has disappeared. Alice was put on the block and sold to the representative of a prominent English lord who liked the idea of owning a youthful blonde-haired blue-eyed virgin. Fortunately, she was rescued by Captain Mors, the air pirate, who raided the slave auction and freed all the captives.
Captain Mors took Alice to Switzerland and sent her to a highly select seminary for young ladies. She excelled at mathematics and languages. She has a photographic memory for the written word and especially for codes, but has always been careful to hide that fact for fear of being thought too "different."
When she finished her schooling, Alice went to work at a Swiss bank. However, she disliked the boring nature of her job and hated being at the mercy of the bank supervisors. She begged Captain Mors for a position on his air ship and was taken on as the communications officer.
Her world was turned upside down when Mors informed her that he had been ordered to send her to serve J.P. Morgan in New York City. He refused to tell her any more than that and shipped her off the next day on a Hamburg Amerika trans-Atlantic flight to New York.
And now she has been inducted into the Templars... and hates it.
