In the Outlanders Novel
 Wendel once saved Kainan from death and is a trusted soldier and loyal friend of the General.
Good at strategy and skilled in a wide variety of weapons, he is easy going and compassionate, was always well liked in the ranks and had a wife and children before the Mo-hor-wein struck and killed them all.
He has a strong compulsion to kill the beast and often loses control whilst fighting, his urge to gain revenge overwhelming his better judgment.
His demon half is named Leraje, a affable demon who delights in battle and causes any wound inflicted upon an enemy to turn gangrenous.
