Kainan was a General in the protection force that served the Elders. He is the recognized leader of the Outlanders, an honorable man sworn to protect humanity from the beast.
Kainan had a wife who was killed and devoured by one of the Moorwen in one of the city assaults and he witnessed her death. He was one of the first to volunteer to fight them and his desire to eradicate them has never died even though his memories of her have all but gone except in those brief moments when his demon half allows him to remember.
He is the eldest at 30, son of a Senator, had a privileged upbringing and is a quick study. Skilled in a vast number of fighting techniques and weaponry and a master of strategy, Kainan holds the respect of all the warriors, except one - Morden.
