Greetings, Friends of Outremer!
My name is Agnes de Saint-Gilles. I was born as a Countess of Tripoli, a heiress of the smallest Crusader State, at the Northern part of the Kingdom. I was only six, when I lost my father, the younger count of Tripoli. My uncle, the powerful and childless Raymond de Saint-Gilles, also known as Lord Tiberias, took me in Jerusalem. I was grew up in the Royal Monastery, educated by Abbess Ioveta of Jerusalem, who was the youngest sister of my lady grandmother. I was introduced at the Court after the splendid victory of Montgisard. My beloved and wise Aunt, Eschiva of Bures, the Princess of Galilee is preparing me for my future tasks and life in the Court. I am the King's Nurse.
Agnes is fragile one, not an exotic beauty. She has a pale, oval face, alabaster skin, big turquoise eyes and two long, heavy, honey-gold braids. She is kind, gentle and patient, has no political ambitions. She obeys to her powerful uncle whose political chessboard she is only a small piece. Agnes is deep religious, devoted to charity works. Her heart is open and she is ready to serve. You may say, she is naive, but she is more innocent and chaste. She is looking for her vocation and tries to fulfill it. She isn't a warrior, no, she is a handmaid for the Kingdom and similar to her uncle she serves the good of Jerusalem.
And he is my husband-to-be, the handsome, brave and merry Hugues of Tiberias, the Champion of the King.
