In the The Romanovs - One Last Dance Novel:
Sarcasm: the last refuge of modest and chaste-souled people when the privacy of their soul is coarsely and intrusively invaded.- Feodor Dostoevsky
Bonjour! I am his SAR Prince Charles-Theodore of Belgium, the second son and child of thier majesties the King and Queen of Belgium (perhaps you have heard of them?). I was born at thier home in Brussels on October 10, 1903, joining my older brother Leopold. Our sister Marie Jose completed the family in 1906. Although our personalities were very different-Leo, the studious and shy goody goody, Marie Jose the obedient artist, me, the not so obedient artist- we were close as children. Our family was more close-knit than most royal families, so in that respect I count myself lucky. The first six years of my life were quiet and simplistic, but in 1909 my father became the third King of the Belgians, Leo became heir, and I became second in line (what a scary thought...King Charles I)...but then again not as scary as Stasie's Aunt Meichen...poor Alexis
Meichen the Vampire
In 1914, our inner world was shattered again by the start of the Great War, and Germany's invasion. My parents remained in Belgium but they sent us to England. Leo and i spent the next four years in an English boy's school. Leo actually got to go and serve in the Belgian army, even though he was really too young for it. Papa allowed him to go but I was really considered too young. I would have probably gotten my arse shot off.
After the war, I came back too England, taking a break from my military education. Since then, Leo has married Stasie, or rather the former Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia, a grande alliance, thus connecting us to the ebullient Romanovs. Thier now expecting a baby. I've also made a friend out of her brother Alexis, who's a nice guy; his hemophilia limits him a lot, and i suspect the momentum behind our freindship is that he can live through my adventures. Of course, he posesses some luck I lack! He's madly in love with his cousin Elisabeth de Greece....i tease him, but he is lucky that he has found a future wife with someone he truly cares about. Maman doesnt have quite the same philosophy. Hopefully, i can play the immature laizze faire card for a few more years...
It's been a busy fall for Royal Europe! Leo and Stasie now have a baby boy named Philippe. He arrived just after her sister became the Lithuanian queen. Her family is united again in Brussels celebrating the birth of a future heir to the throne.
