In the Outlanders Novel  
Special Agent Jack Miller has been part of the FBI Violent Crimes Squad for a good number of years and has seen just about everything in that time but when body parts start being found that have teeth marks on them that match no animal known to mankind, even he's baffled.
He carries a Glock 23 pistol and always wanted to be a cop. He likes being in charge and doesn’t suffer fools, often resorting to raised voices and cutting remarks to show his displeasure. He’s addicted to caffeine, chocolate and cigarettes.
He has strong principles and is very devoted to his job, leaving him not much time for a social life. He is divorced and is currently single. The marriage failed mainly due to his inability to put his wife first and make a solid commitment. He is 35, very fit and spends a lot of time at the gun range and the gym.
His partner is Danny Lamont.
In the Slave to the Hunger Novel:
 
Former lead singer and guitarist with the Industrial rock band "Suicide Switch", Jack was good friends and more with Karenya, their graphic designer and stylist until she accidentally changed him into a vampire like her and he killed her.
His band were reasonably successful until he decided to have a little fun with his new-found immortality. Now he's in LA, living it up on money that isn't his and seeming not to care that his behavior is attracting attention from those he should really be avoiding.
