Hello, I'm Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, better known as 'The Queen Mum'.
I was born in Scotland in 1900, and became The Duchess of York after marrying Prince Albert, The Duke of York (my beloved 'Bertie')
We had two beautiful daughters: Elizabeth and Margaret. We had and enjoyed family life at the York Cottage (it is more than just a cottage, of course!) until my brother-in-law Edward VIII decided to abdicate...
Since 1936 Bertie and I became King and Queen of Britain, and my dear Lilibeth (my daughter Elizabeth) became heiress to the British throne. We had to stand up for our people during World War II, and I was even considered as "the most dangerous woman in Europe"!
1952 was a very sad year, for me and my daughters, since my beloved Bertie died of lung cancer. So, Lilibeth became Queen, and since then, I became The Queen Mother (Queen Mum).
I aged long enough to see my grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reaching 100 years old in 2000! The whole Kingdom celebrated me with a parade, and my family was together and happy for me.
I died at 101 years old in 2002 (I didn't reach 102...), just a few weeks after my daughter Margaret died.
My Role in the What if? - Story
In this story my brother-in-law David got married with Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna, and Bertie and I remain as The Duke and Duchess of York, being next to the King and Queen, and the rest of the British Royal Family.
