I am Gnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus. The Domitius Ahenobarbus family was a Patrician family whose members achieved notoriety and success in the years of the Republic and the Empire. Their roots date back to Latium where they flourished in the Etruscan Period and their bloodline includes King Tarquinius Superbus. One of his last acts before he was deposed was his purchase of three prophetic books by the Sybil of Cumae where he deposited them in the Temple of Jupiter. Thus began the family patronship of Jupiter Optimus Maximus.

One of their earliest victories was in the battle of Lake Regillus over the Latins in 494 BC, where their victory was promised by the gods, Castor and Pollux, and a sign was given to them by changing the beard of their victor to red, which consequently made Ahenobarbus part of their lineage.

My Pater was the great General who conquered Gallia Transalpina and served as Consul in 122 BC. The many political successes in the Ahenobarbus family were due to the easibility of the men to switch sides when it suited them.

For my own military accomplishments, I spent some time as a General in Numidia where I achieved a victory in a skirmish at the beginning of the Jugurthine War. I was able to claim a military triumph and this statue was sculptured in honor of that earlier feat. Right now, you can find a copy of my sculpture in the Vatican Museum. HA!

We are a wealthy family from the old school. Money has never been a problem with us. We don't really care how we get our wealth, only that we get it. HA! Our family owns farms, vineyards,an importing business, real estate and even brothels throughout the Empire. They also were engaged in piracy for many years.

One final point is that a future descendent of our illustrious family is none other than the Emperor Nero. So the story continues with the notorious sagas of the Domitius Ahenobarbus family ...

Who is this? Join me at 'Pax Romana.' and become personally acquainted with me. Perhaps, in the midst of time, you will find out. HA! In this novel, I intend to make my own mark on the Roman world through my achievements and conquests.

I have a domineering, powerful personality whose thirst for power runs strong. Currently, I am a busy man. I own and control much of Roma. Many do not know that, but it is true.

Come and tour my palatial domus where you will meet my many clients, read my many volumes and enjoy my fine art sculptures of the deities. Gracing my atrium, you will soon find my statue of Venus as in a rendition of Botticelli symbolizing her birth from the sea. She is the Goddess of Love and Beauty, who laughed sweetly and mockingly at those whose wiles she conquered. She is the irresistible Lady who stole away the wits of the wise.

I am a romanticist at heart. I love the fairer sex and appreciate their beauty and fine accomplishments. But while I am seen by some as a lover, others see me as a villain. Being a member of the Domitius Ahenobarbus gens of the notorious Nero, many men view me as harsh, arrogant and cruel, while my favored Ladies see me as amorous, passionate and tender. If you would like to know more about me, I invite you to join Pax Romana, where I hold a Board position. It is a group worth visiting. If you like suspense, war, political intrigue and love, then this is the group for you!

Until then, enjoy my fine Nomentan wine and wander about the gardens. Perhaps you will meet my lovely Wife, the Lady Dia Cornelia Domitia. You also may leave me a message. I look forward to meeting you. I wish to thank the following friends for their gifts of my fine artwork. They include: Dia Cornelia Domitia, Aura Cornelia Caelia, Marcina Romula, Livilla Aspasia Claudia and Tyronius Pompilius Sergius. The frieze from the Domitius Ahenobarbus Altar is a gift from an anonymous person. Perhaps if you are lucky, you will be greeted by my pet leopard on your way out. Fauna is very loyal to her Master, because he appreciates her great beauty and contribution to the natural habitats of the world. She enjoys anything green and leafy although she will occasionally bite into a banana or an occasional finger or two. HA! If you are fortunate to leave my palatial domus in one piece, I look forward to seeing you again.

Welcome to the noble house of Gnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus! Please introduce yourself and stay awhile. I am a busy man. I own and control much of Roma. Many do not know that, but it is very true. Come and tour my domus where you will meet my many clients, read my fine books, and enjoy my works of art.

At my entranceway, you can see my statue of Venus. Venus is my family's patron goddess. She is the goddess of love and beauty. She is the daughter of Zeus and Dione in 'The Iliad.' She is said to have sprung from the foam of the sea from a place near Cythera, from where she was transported to Cyprus. She became the laughter loving goddess, who laughed sweetly or mockingly at those whose wiles she conquered. She is the irrestible Lady who stole away the wits of the wise.
