In the Scotia Novel:
Not every victory is won on the field of battle...
Any warrior can learn to wield a spear or sword, throwing himself ferociously at the enemy during combat. Strength, determination, and skill... these will defeat your opponent in battle. Yet there are times a special type of man is required to perform a task that no other warrior will carry out. These men use stealth and cunning to accomplish what no others can; Faolan is one of these men.
For special consideration, Faolan accomplishes whatever task the Righ assigns him... usually conducting difficult missions that require a delicate touch. Need a man dead? A woman abducted? Ask Faolan...
Meaning "wolf," Faolan's very name describes the man's characteristics: a skilled hunter without remorse, tracking his prey and bringing it down swiftly and efficiently.
Somehow Faolan has found himself the unwitting protector of an attractive but somewhat unruly slave... though whether his motive is the occasional delight he gets from her body or the pleasure of frustrating her pompous master is still a matter of debate. Eafa cares nothing for his purpose... as long as he prevents the worst of Raghallach's beatings.
Traveling from Eire, the daughter of the assassin's one-time mentor has come seeking his aid as she hopes to find and punish the man who caused her father's death. Never one for sentiment, it will take more than Briallen's emotional appeal and her pretty face to convince Faolan to assist her. There's no profit in either!
