It was getting close to Opening Curtain, and I needed to head toward my Front Box seat. I didn't want to miss any of the opening chords.
In fact, for a moment, I almost thought it had started. A tune started up faintly, but persistantly.
"'Kill the waaaabit! Kill the waaaabit!"
Was that...?? No, surely not...
Then, that song about a rose garden....
No, that must be the orchestra tuning up. It sounded fine, for the most part (well, as fine as general cocophony can sound), but something was just a little... off. Well, I'm sure they'd be fine. And it will certainly be a memorable evening if they weren't.
The lights dimmed to indicate that the show would start momentarily. The crowd in the lobby began to thin out as everyone went to find their seats.
A couple people filtered through the front doors in these last minutes. I could have sworn that I heard one woman asking another patron about a tenticled creature and I surrepticiously looked about for anything Cthulu, but saw no overt signs. I demurely sighed in relief.
Yes, off to find that box seat.
