I mewl with relief as the blinking lights indicated it is time for the audience to settle down in preparation for the performance to begin. Perhaps this will put a damper on the mating dance going on behind me. All that flirting is making me think of the alley and my own sweet ball of fluff. Too bad she is not an aht lover.
The lights dim and the many chandelier balls rise up towards the ceiling, out of the way of the patrons. At the apex, the lights darken further and a hush settles over the house, broken in small pockets while conversations are hurriedly finished. Behind me, a new spate of giggling ensues and I can only guess at what prompted it.
The curtain begins its ascent and there is an air of expectation.
