A brief introduction to my poem below…for all who yearn to find their true love. On the night I met my beloved Captain, we stood in the moonlight on his ship, the Black Pearl. His amorous attempt to get me to stay for the night was successful, partially, among other romantic efforts on his part, because of a quote he whispered to me…..from “A Sonnet of the Moon” written in 1608 by Charles Best.
……………………..
Now, months later, we find ourselves completely enchanted…lovers under the Halloween moon…
Halloween Lovers
Haunted waters
Foggy night
Spirits roam
By ghostly light
The Black Pearl’s sails
As dark as coal
Stir in the mist
That chills the soul
The moon above
Peers through the clouds
The deck obscured
The haze enshrouds
Oak wood creaks
Torn tattered sails
Lanterns glow
Off polished rails
The galleon floats
Midst ocean’s tide
The deep sea’s waves
Where secrets hide
Visions rise up
From the hold
Shadows drift
Ghost stories told
Chains are heard
Deep in the hull
Specters laugh
A pirate’s skull
Candles flicker
Moaning heard
The breath is held
The vision blurred
The ship’s bell tolls
A mournful sound
Phantoms creep
Mysteries abound
But quiet sleep
The lovers find
In warm embrace
Their hearts entwined
Steady, true
Like stars above
The Captain holds
His lady love
Passion spent
Their bodies press
Whispered love
Deep sweet caress
The Captain’s kiss
No trick, all treat
His touch so hot
Their yearning’s heat
No fears for them
No dangers seen
Just lovers’ warmth
This Halloween
