RE: More politics - Mich. lawmaker barred for using the "V" word
Author: Gabriel Astarte

As a person who lives IN the state of Michigan, I really feel I need to comment on this... issue...

Seriously? These persons, this guy and other Republicans, were offended by the use of a word that anyone can find in a dictionary? Even an elementary school kid? A word that millions of doctors and nurses and I'm sure a lot of mature, well reasoned and free thinking people use every day. And these lawmakers want to stick their heads in the sand over a word? Yeah, that upsets me. A lot.

Scratched... From the list of speakers? Really? Scratched? Thank you so very much Stamas. I can't tell you just how much I like seeing our liberties being taken away from us, even at the state level. And you know what else bothers me, Stamas, of the Republican party? Isn't this the very thing we, Republicans, are saying that the Democrats are trying to do to us? Scratching us from being able to speak openly, freely, and without censure in a country whose First Amendment is... Oh wait, let me see if I remember... is FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!! What's next? Are we going to be curtailed in the Bill of Rights, too?

"That comment would be very inappropriate," he said. (Stamas I presume...) "You have young children? Is that something you want them to hear from your state rep?"

Why not? What's wrong with it? It's a word, like any other word and yes, it means something specific. Are you so afraid of one tiny, little word that when uttered in a house of law and debate you feel the need to censure a fellow lawmaker from being able to speak on the house floor? Really? For fucks sake, man! When did I wake up in a communist/socialist/dictatorship state/country? Go back to Cuba or wherever you're from and leave my state/country alone!

Rep. Lisa Brown, "The Constitution says free speech," she said. "I don't know why my rights should not be respected in a room where we take an oath to uphold the Constitution."

Very well said, Rep. Brown. Thank you for your service to this state and to this country.

Now my only regret in all of this is that I don't live in Rep. Brown's area so that I can help to vote her back into office, and vote out Stamas for being such a small minded... Person.

I'll just leave it alone at that.

Thanks.
