Unfortunately, there isn't a simple answer to your questions, Legolas.
Tan made some valid points - while MoB do have some control over their novel, their purpose is really to facilitate and guide the novel, and help members to get the best experience they can there.
We do have a clause that if MoB do not log in for two months or more (without notifying anyone or making arrangements), they can (and probably should) be replaced. This is to ensure that there are active MoB on every novel.
However, if MoB actions end up stifling creativity and activity, and all attempts by members are met with less than satisfactory results, then the best alternative you have is to strike out and write somewhere else. If you don't want to start another novel, Short Cuts is always available.
That being said, MoB would be wise to remember the following, to keep their members happy and actively participating.
1. Novels cannot survive without participating members. If you've accepted someone into your novel, it's assumed that you want them writing there. Take each question and request seriously, and answer it in a timely fashion.
2. If the request isn't what you had envisioned for your novel, consider trying to work it in there somehow. Think creatively; sometimes new directions lead into exciting and dynamic sub plots. If it still doesn't fit, consider offering the members an alternate story thread for their idea. Remember: if they're not welcome to write it in your novel, they may leave to write it somewhere else. Members are not there to tell Your story, there are there to tell Their story.
I'm sure there are more points I can add, but I'm too hungry to focus LOL I'll add more as I think of them *S*
