From what I have seen in PHJ, it would seem to me that there are not an enormous amount of novel proposals every day, in fact it would be likely that any such things would not even make the dailies every day. So the argument that they cause clutter seems a bit specious at best - at least from my standpoint. I know many people never look at the dailies - obviously they are not the ones that would be reached by this method in any event. But if the dailies are kept trimmed to keep clutter down, one cannot help but wonder what purpose they serve if the focus is to reduce their quantity rather than to expose what wonderful things Pan has to offer its members. Its ultimately up to each individual member to decide if they will make use of what is available, but I believe that a site that focusses heavily on writing should be able to promote in some effective manner new writing opportunities. Unfortunately, despite the best intentions, I don't believe that PHJ is all that effective for this purpose. Now I have not been at Pan as long as many other members, so my point of view may have well been taken into consideration in the past and discarded for perfectly legitimate considerations. I have no problem with that, I love this site and thought that my idea was original and helpful, but it may very well be old news indeed. I am trying to promote some constructive discussion; please don't take my comments as disparaging of Pan or the wonderful folks that make it the great place it is. I am seeking an alternative to the IM solicitations that so many feel compelled to undertake in order to get attention of the members. I can't help but think that something on the dailies is prefereable to that.
