There is a trend here at Pan for people to immediately criticize ideas and suggestions by reading only negatives into them instead of also presenting either positive suggestions or actual feed back to the poster. This tends to stamp out enthusiasm and scare off writers. To focus on the positive, both Ava Montgomery and Patrick McErlean said they participated in novels that had sisters and I would have liked to hear how the experience influenced their novels success. For example Patrick said:
By "work just fine" do you mean that all your authors know the three are linked and that they routinely join the novels? Do you share ideas between you? Have you tried things that didn't work? Are your novels related to each other by subject or genre or what?
Simply stating that you were already in sister "setup" would at least save Legolas time and effort in contacting you. And letting him know what didn't work also means efforts won't be duplicated.
As for the objection to the synopsis, I know that the History Genie asks for one monthly so a small effort serves two different purposes.
I do hope you will join the web-ring and participate in the newsletter (Calliope's information is important too.) Perhaps this time the effort will pay off for all of Pan as people share new ideas.
I did see a topic started yesterday on the community boards for the subject of Sister Novels and perhaps this discussion should continue there.
