Do You Think Anyone Noticed?

Author: Data  Date:   06-25-10 21:35 "All hands to battle stations! Red Alert! Data, what's our status?" "Captain we have sustained damage to decks seventeen and eighteen and shields are down to fourteen per cent." "Evasive maneouvres, Mr Crusher." The red lights and the alarm faded into the background as the Enterprise crew, rather like an adequately functioning machine themselves, dodged the sleek ship through the asteroid belt like a dolphin hurtling over the finishing line. "Mr Data, are you mixing metaphors again?" yelled Picard. "I am sorry sir, it is an experimental program I running in synchronicity with my new creativity program in an attempt to develop synaptic refelexes that -" "Mr Data, shutup." "Yes sir." "They're firing on us again!" yelled Wharf from the security bay. "Energise torpedoes in pattern Alpha Gamma Picard!" Yelled Picard. "Fire at Will!" "Hey!" yelled Riker. "Would you stop doing that!" Data turned his attention to the flashing red light on his screen. It said something that translated roughly to "Oh crap." "Captain shields are down to two percent!" he yelled. "Damage to life support systems and navigation is down!" There wasn't time for much more between a small explosion on the bridge and the ship dropping altitude. They hurtled through what looked distinctly like atmosphere. Data's fingers moved rapidly over the controls as they plummetted to the planet's surface. At the last minute he regained manual steering and pulled them up sharply. The Enterprise hit the surface and slid at speed across paddocks while Data jammed on the brakes. When they came to a stop, the ship was filled with smoke. Picard's voice filled the comm links. "This is your captain. We have crash landed on an unknown planet, possibly hostile, but since the ship is about to explode I advise all crew members to evacuate immediately." The Bridge crew scrambled out of the nearest gaping hole in the hull and stood looking out at a rather strange sight. "Who are they?" Riker asked. "Some of them look human," Picard replied. "Data, analysis?" "Captain I believe we may have landed on Earth, and this may be some kind of parade," Data replied. "Ah," said Picard. "...Do you think anyone noticed?" Behind them the Enterprise exploded and fireworks filled the sky.
